ISOFAR: Board of Directors
ISOFAR is a global non-profit network of scientists doing research in Organic Agriculture. According to the statutes of ISOFAR, a Board of Directors (hereafter: board) composed of 6-12 members is elected on a General Assembly (GA), carried out every 3 years. The GA is usually arranged in connection to the international Organic World Congress.
The work as board member is not paid, and ISOFAR is fully dependent on the voluntarily work of members and board members to maintain its important role within the scientific community, demonstrated for instance by the successful development of our scientific journal, Organic Agriculture (OA) (Springer, established 2011), and a long list of scientific events. Board members should actively promote ISOFAR in their local/regional networks e.g. by arranging scientific gatherings (seminars/webinars), supporting the OA journal, contributing news to the ISOFAR website, etc. Initiatives for more and other activities are welcome!
Election of a Board of Directors from 2021 - 2024
Due to the CoVid19-pandemic, the last Organic World Congress has been postponed from September 2020 to September 2021. ISOFAR members agreed online in June 2020 to postpone our General Assembly (GA) and the election of a new board of directors to September 2021 as well. All board applications we received for GA 2020 had to be canceled and it was agreed that a new call for a board of directors should be launched in spring 2021.
To facilitate that all members may have the same possibility to participate for the board, ISOFAR has the standard of an open process for applications for a board position, as part of the preparations for the 2021 GA, which is planned in Rennes, France on September 7, 2021 from 13:00 - 17:00; https://owc.ifoam.bio/2021/en). Only ISOFAR members, who have paid their membership fees for 2020 and 2021 can apply for the Board of Directors. All members have been invited via email.
The deadline for application (template for application) was July 15, 2021, sent per email to email@example.com. Later applications cannot be considered because the election will be done electronically, using an anonymous and independent software tool and election site before the GA. The results will be announced at the GA.
The board is led by a President, assisted by a Vice President and a Treasurer. These three persons compose the Executive board of ISOFAR, and are elected by the board members just after the board announcement of the election results at the GA.
The General Assembly will be a hybrid event: those who are in Rennes will meet in our conference room, other can join virtually via Zoom (the link and invitation will be send out to all members individually end of July).
